Not every experiment meets with success, but failure is an incredible teacher.  It is with sadness that I report the first indoor cucumber growing experiment is over and met with barely mild success.  So I’m happy!!

My best guess at this moment is that we experienced some root rot.  Although I am keeping some heat in that area, it was probably kept below optimal growth temperatures.  Additionally they had dried out over a long holiday weekend, and I had since started over compensating with over watering.  Between the cooler temps and the over watering, the cucumbers plants were not able to take up the water and I fear this is what caused their death.

Better luck next time (because that’s what experiments are all about)!  And we did get to eat one little itsy bitsy cucumber.
